 Sunny Deol is an Indian film actor.  He has done many great films in Hindi cinema.  He is known for films like Ghatak, Damini and Gadar.  Sunny Deol has received two Filmfare and two National Awards in the film career so far.  Recently Sunny Deol has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, he is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Gurdaspur, Punjab on a BJP ticket.

 Sunny Deol was born on 19 October 1956 in the house of actor Dharmendra.  His mother's name is Prakash Kaur.  Her stepmother Hema-Malini has also been a successful actress of Hindi cinema, currently she is the leader of BJP.  He has a brother, Bobby Deol who is a film actor.  Has two sisters and two half-sisters.  His real sisters Ajita and Vijayta live in California.  His half-sisters are Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.  He has a cousin - Abhay Deol, who is a successful actor of Hindi films.

 Marriage

 Sunny Deol is married to Pooja Deol.  They have two sons - Karan and Rajveer Deol.

 career

 Sunny Deol belongs to a film family, his father was a famous actor and Hindi cinema man of yesteryear.  His fame was carried forward by his son Sunny Deol.  Sunny Deol started his career in the year 1984 with the film Betaab.  His opposite actress Amrita Singh was seen in this film.  The film did quite well at the box-office.  Also this film got Sunny her first Filmfare Award.  In the year 1985, he appeared in the role of an unemployed youth in the film Arjun, his performance in this film was well received by the audience and critics.  The film was one of the hits of that year.  After this he gave many back-to-bank hits in Hindi cinema.  Which included films like Yatim, Chaalbaaz and Sultanate.

 In the 90s, Sunny worked in many super blockbuster hits.  At this time he made the film Ghayal directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi.  Which won him the Filmfare Award as well as the National Award.  He did many hit films which included films like Dar-Ghatak, Ziddi, Border.

 In the year 2001, he did the film Farz.  His opposite Preity Zinta was seen in this film.  The film did very well at the box-office, as well as critics also went crazy about Sunny's excellent acting.  After this he appeared in the film Ghadar Ek Prem Katha.  His opposite actress Ameesha Patel was seen in this film.  The film was based on the relations between India and Pakistan.  During that time there was opposition to this film in many places, but despite that the film earned a record breaking record at the box-office.  Everything in the film was a super hit during that time, be it the songs or the powerful dialogues of Sunny.  After this he appeared in another great film Indian, in which he played the role of a patriotic police officer.  Then he appeared in the film Maa Tujhe Salaam.  He was in the role of a patriot in both the films.

 In the year 2003, he worked opposite Preity Zinta and Priyanka Chopra in the film Hero - The Spy.  His character in the film was that of a detective.  Due to his strong acting, a lot of crowd gathered outside the cinema halls, and his film proved to be a super hit.  The film was the third most successful film of that year.

 After this he appeared in the film Yamla Pagla Deewana with his father Dharmendra and Bobby Deol.  The film did decent business at the box office.  After this, he did many films which could not be very successful in wooing the audience.  Recently his film Blank was released.
